I woke to find the space beside me is just that, a space. Cold, inert, unimpressed. By unimpressed, I don't mean her half of the bed is passing judgment on me, but that it contains no impression to show she slept the last night. Which now I think about it, comes to pretty much the same thing.

10:17am Sunday.
She was out on a late one with the girls and promised a stealthy, door clicking tip toeing, hush hush sneaking under the duvet kind of home coming.

"She" is Miriam.
If you include the music and sex, Miriam is fluent in five languages. She lets me have the clippings from her toenails so I can chew them, one by one, While I am working. There's a collection of them in a small dish..
